Virgin Media heads to the movies
A leading digital TV provider has announced plans to launch a brand new movies-on-demand subscription service.
Digital TV provider Virgin Media has unveiled a new movie subscription package as part of its broadcasting platform.

Created in conjunction with Universal Pictures, the PictureBox service will allow subscribers to watch up to 28 films on-demand at any given time for £5 a month.

The majority of the films will have not yet been seen on free-to-air TV in the UK, while a number are also expected to be available in high definition.

Big screen content such as Hot Fuzz, The Bourne Ultimatum and The Holiday is set to be available through the platform over the coming months.

Katharine Burns, executive director of content acquisition at Virgin Media, said customers "love" movies on-demand.

She added: "The addition of PictureBox means Virgin Media is the perfect choice for film fans, with a fantastic HD line-up and even more films to choose from, all at great value for money."

Virgin Media also recently launched an unlimited music subscription service with Universal Music.
