Virgin Media drives increase in TiVo subscriptions
TiVo's customer base has increased to 2.5 million subscribers.

Virgin Media helped TiVo achieve a year-on-year rise of more than half a million subscribers in the three months to April 30th 2012.

The cable company recently began offering TiVo set-top boxes as standard with its new Collections bundles and signed up another 242,000 TiVo customers in the first quarter of the year, bringing the total to 677,000.

During the period, TiVo saw its subscription base rise by 27 per cent year over year, or 524,000 customers, taking its total customer number to approximately 2.5 million.

Service and technology revenues also climbed significantly, by 40 per cent on the corresponding quarter of 2011.

The advanced television services firm is expecting to see subscription growth accelerate throughout the remainder of its 2013 fiscal year.

Tom Rogers, president and chief executive of TiVo, said the company's performance over the three months represented a solid start to the year and was in line with its financial outlook.

"We are experiencing these subscription increases because cable operators are demanding a product that can tame an increasingly chaotic array of content choices," he commented.

Mr Rogers expressed his belief that Tivo "provides the best solution for searching and organising this complex world of video content".
