Virgin Media launches Dark Knight Rises TiVo app

Virgin Media has teamed up with Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures to develop a Dark Knight Rises app for the cable company's TiVo service.

The application appears in the Apps and Games section on the TiVo menu ahead of the film's release in UK cinemas on Friday (July 20th 2012).

Customers will have the opportunity to delve deeper into the world of Christopher Nolan's superhero trilogy by viewing character biographies, recap videos and a full plot synopsis.

Aleks Habdank, Virgin Media's director of digital entertainment product, said the much-anticipated new release in the Batman trilogy looks set to become a summer blockbuster.

"Our new app gives TiVo customers the perfect way to immerse themselves in the action and catch up on the story in advance of the film's release," he added.

This is the latest in a string of recent additions to the TiVo service's app portfolio.

In late June, Virgin Media announced the launch of an interactive Star Trek app to tie in with Star Trek: The Digitally Remastered Original Series on CBS Action.

Earlier this month, new Phineas and Ferb and Teletext Holidays apps were also added to the platform.
