Virgin Media launches Harry Potter app on TiVo service

Virgin Media has launched a dedicated Harry Potter application on its TiVo cable TV service to celebrate the release of the final instalment in the movie franchise.
With Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 due to hit UK cinemas on Friday (July 15th 2011), the cable company said it is offering a "spellbinding" array of content via the app.
Developed by Virgin Media and using content from the films provided by Warner Bros Pictures, the program is now available from the Apps and Games section on the TiVo menu.
To complement the app, the first five Harry Potter movies can be watched at any time thanks to Virgin's On Demand service, while the most recent release, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1, is being screened by Sky Movies.
Cindy Rose, executive director of digital entertainment at Virgin Media, said: "The Virgin Media TiVo service presents a whole new digital entertainment experience ... and this app is a magnificent example of the unique services we're capable of delivering."
On Monday, the cable broadcaster launched an app for Android smartphones that allows its TiVo subscribers to record shows while they are out of the house.
