Virgin Media launches online movie service

Monday, April 26th 2010 by Editorial
Virgin Media has launched its new Online Movies service.
Broadband and digital TV provider Virgin Media has announced the launch of its first online movie service.

Virgin Media Online Movies will allow film fanatics to stream movies direct to PCs, laptops and TVs, where they will remain for a rental period of 48 hours.

Viewers can watch the film as many times as they want in this period, and can access the movie they have purchased wherever they log into their account.

Alex Green, executive director, commercial, TV and online at Virgin Media said: "Virgin Media already offers the UK's leading movies on demand TV service and we wanted to bring the same high-quality, easy-to-use experience to film fans online."

Movies available as part of the service's launch line-up include Fantastic Mr Fox, Twilight: New Moon and District 9.

To coincide with the launch, Virgin Media will also relaunch its movies website to make it easier for film fans to find flicks they want to watch with the Where To Watch guide.

Earlier this month, Hollywood actress Thandie Newton helped launch the 2010 Virgin Media Shorts film competition
