Virgin Media names new music download serviceWednesday, January 20th 2010 Fibre optic broadband provider Virgin Media has named its upcoming music download service. Broadband bundle provider Virgin Media is set to launch its new music download service in July, reports have suggested.
According to Marketing magazine, the company, which offers packages featuring fibre optic cable broadband, home phone and digital TV services, has revealed that the new platform will be named MusicFish.
It is believed the service will offer unlimited stream and downloads from a range of companies for around £6.49 a month, while it is hoped it will provide competition to iTunes and rival broadband provider Sky's similar services.
Talking to the publication, a spokesman for Virgin Media said the firm was "making good progress" on developing the service for its launch later this year.
Details of the online music service have come after Virgin Media revealed it is teaming up with Enterprise UK to launch a new scheme designed to help young people start new businesses.
Neil Berkett, chief executive officer of Virgin Media, said the initiative is designed to "close the gap between the number of young people with a great idea and those who are able to make it happen". |
