
Digital TV provider Virgin Media is to broadcast a season of 3D programming on its on-demand service.
Digital TV and fibre optic broadband provider Virgin Media has announced plans to showcase a range of 3D digital TV content through its on-demand platform.Expected to take place from November 17th, the service will allow subscribers to access content which has been transferred into proprietary anaglyph images and will appear 3D through special glasses.
According to Broadband TV News, the spectacles will be available from Sainsbury's and Virgin Media stores in the build-up to the so-called 3D Festival.
A spokeswoman told the website: "Virgin Media is always looking at new technology to see if it is something we would like to offer as a service to our customers."
She added that a repeat of a 3D episode of US TV show Chuck may also be broadcast as part of the service.
Earlier this year, rival digital TV provider Sky announced plans to launch 3D TV services at the start of next year.
