Mo Farah to advertise Virgin Media broadband
Virgin Media has recruited British Olympic runner Mo Farah to front its latest broadband marketing campaign.

Virgin Media has announced the launch of a new broadband advertising campaign starring British Olympic athlete Mo Farah.

The double Olympic gold medallist will star in a print ad campaign that sees him sporting the iconic ginger goatee beard of Sir Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin, in order to promote the company's superfast broadband packages.

It builds on the success of the company's existing TV campaign starring the record-breaking Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, which has also entered its next phase with new adverts airing last week during ITV1's The X Factor.

Other high-profile stars that have acted as brand ambassadors for Virgin Media include Stephen Fry, David Tennant, Samuel L Jackson and Uma Thurman.

Jeff Dodds, executive director of brand and marketing communications at Virgin Media, said: "Like Mo, we are also obsessed with speed, particularly broadband speed. Mo will join our other sponsored athlete Usain Bolt in ensuring that we inspire the nation to 'Keep Up'."

Last week, a report from Ofcom showed that Virgin Media's up to 100Mbps superfast package is the fastest broadband service currently available in the UK.

Tavistock Superfast Broadband
20th August 2012

Virgin Media obsessed with speed that just assists the UK Government to do little in bringing superfast to areas such as Tavistock. That is done by increasing the average broadband speed to have the fastest broadband by May 2015. All done while leaving the slow behind - yes 2 Mbps is slow and that is the UK Government target for all.
