The cable company is said to be dedicating more resources to tackling EPG errors.

Virgin Media is planning to dedicate more resources towards tackling issues with its TiVo electronic programme guide (EPG).

A staff post on the cable company's official support forum revealed it is looking to increase its efforts to pick up errors, which can cause series links to fail to record.

While the staffer explained that Virgin outsources its EPG data, they insisted it should not be up to TiVo subscribers to notify the pay TV giant of any problems they are facing.

"It's our job to provide you with a TV service that entertains you and that's all we want you to do when you are using TiVo," the post added.

In July, Virgin Media issued an apology to customers affected by a series link glitch on its TiVo service that left some subscribers without recordings of their favourite shows.

Members of the forum claimed the issue was caused by an update to the EPG that meant the set-top box was unable to detect shows within the planner.

Writing on its official Twitter feed, Virgin Media said: "Really sorry for the trouble caused."
