Virgin Media states benefits of fibre optic broadbandNeil Birkett, Virgin Media's chief executive officer, has said most of its customers get at least 90 per cent of the broadband speed they signed up for. Fibre optic cable broadband provider Virgin Media has restated its policy to give customers an accurate picture of the speed they can expect to receive.
Writing a column for the Mirror, the telecoms firm's chief executive officer Neil Berkett said many of its subscribers are already able to get 100 per cent of the internet speed they signed up for.
The vast majority are able to get at least 90 per cent of this figure, even at peak browsing times, he added.
Mr Birkett attributed this achievement to the fact that Virgin Media offers fibre optic cable broadband, rather than relying on "old-fashioned phone lines".
"We are continuing to invest in our network so we can deliver more of what you are paying for - whether on 10Mb, 20Mb, 50Mb or our soon-to-launch 100Mb broadband service," the chief executive added.
Consumers who are keen to sign up for one of Virgin Media's popular bundle deals - L broadband and M home phone - should move fast, as they only have until July 30th 2010 to do so. |
Sophie Turner Laing of Sky believes many of its customers now demand high-definition TV "as standard". Traditional broadband connections will not be replaced by mobile internet in the short term, it has been claimed. Fibrecity contractors have cut a number of Virgin Media's connections in Bournemouth. | Consumers are throwing away more than £2 million per day on broadband packages that do not suit their needs, according to O2. TVs are still the favoured method of watching programmes, Broadband TV News has claimed. A new study has revealed that Brits are keen to see greater clarity regarding broadband advertising. |
