Virgin TV Anywhere multiscreen service will launch 'soon'
A new Sky Go-style service has been unveiled by Virgin Media.

Virgin Media has unveiled a new multiscreen service that will allow customers to watch live channels and on-demand content while out of the house.

Known as Virgin TV Anywhere, the proposition will soon be available for Apple devices - namely the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch - and online, although an exact launch date is yet to be confirmed. An Android version is set to debut next year.

Subscribers to the cable company's TiVo service will be able to take advantage of additional functionality, including an app that allows tablet devices to be used as a remote control.

In addition, Virgin TV Anywhere will allow TiVo customers to remotely record their favourite shows when they are out and about.

For non-TiVo subscribers, the service is set to introduce an online TiVo-like experience, including a substantial range of on-demand content and a selection of live programming.

Virgin TV Anywhere is similar to Sky Go, which debuted in July 2011 and has been attracting around 1.5 million unique users every month.

It was originally launched for laptops, PCs and Macs, although compatibility with Apple and Android devices was added over the following months.
