Virgin Media's fibre optic broadband 'good for city dwellers'Friday, January 29th 2010 People who live in cities with good internet access should consider getting a fibre optic broadband package from Virgin Media, an expert has claimed. Packages from Virgin Media and O2 are ideal for those who live in cities with good levels of internet access, according to an expert.
Edd Dawson, editor of Broadband.co.uk, said that consumers who live in built-up areas tend to be "high usage households", who want unlimited services and the quality speeds that those providers offer.
However, he added that there are a lot of broadband deals available at present, so consumers should consider their location and needs before signing up to a package.
He explained: "If you are in a very rural area it can be better to go with a package like PlusNet where initially you are after a reliability of service, and suppliers like PlusNet are available in those areas whereas Virgin and O2 might not be available."
Recent research published by Broadband.co.uk revealed that the average internet speed in the UK stood at 4.478Mbps at the end of 2009. |
