Whitchurch to benefit from super-fast broadbandWhitchurch in Shropshire is to now benefit from Virgin Media's super-fast, fibre optic broadband. Internet provider Virgin Media has launched the UK's fastest broadband service in Whitchurch.
Homes in the local area will benefit from a fibre optic service which is nearly nine times faster than average speeds.
At 50Mb, it will allow customers to download their favourite music album in as little as 11 seconds, while a TV show could be downloaded in a mere minute, reports the Whitchurch Herald.
Jon James, executive director of broadband at Virgin Media told the newspaper that the service will "transform" people's online experiences.
"The new 50Mb service in Whitchurch will allow family members to experience ultrafast broadband at the same time regardless of how many laptops or consoles they own, and to enjoy the ultimate online TV, music and film experience," he added.
On Monday (July 6th), rival broadband provider BT will begin the next phase of its own super-fast broadband rollout, providing homes in Muswell Hill, north London and Whitchurch, a suburb north of Cardiff, with fibre optic coverage.
