YouView set-top boxes hit high street stores today

YouView set-top boxes are available from retailers across the country as of today (July 26th 2012), the subscription-free digital TV platform has confirmed.
John Lewis, Currys, Comet, Argos, Amazon, Richer Sounds, the Euronics Group and other retail partners are stocking the set-top boxes, which are priced at £299.
The much-delayed service, which was originally intended to launch back in 2010, will offer access to more than 100 digital TV and radio channels, as well as catch-up and on-demand archives from the libraries of the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5.
Content will also be available from Scottish broadcaster STV and Sky's online television service Now TV, with additional providers set to be announced over the coming months.
Furthermore, YouView offers an innovative electronic programme guide that allows customers to scroll back over seven days of TV to view any shows they missed, while viewers will also be able to watch in high definition and pause, record and rewind live TV.
YouView chief executive Richard Halton said: "With the service constantly evolving, it is sure to provide a unique entertainment offering for people across the UK."
