If you've a BT landline but want to sign up to one of Virgin Media's broadband packages then the National Broadband M deal is one of your options.

It lets you connect at speeds of up to 20Mbps and it doesn't use fibre optic technology, so it's available in many more UK households than standard cable broadband. This is the most basic of the National Broadband bundles, but that doesn't mean you'll feel restricted, as it's got enough add-ons and extras to feel like a premium package.

Virgin Media can't promise to give you close to the advertised download speed in the same way that it can with its cable broadband packages, but here it does commit to making sure that your connection's optimised and able to take you online as fast as possible. However quickly you can get online in your home, Virgin Media'll keep your speed consistent throughout the day.

The 10GB monthly download limit's fairly typical for a deal of this kind and it should give you hundreds of hours of browsing over an average 30 day period. It's also lenient enough to allow you to watch on demand TV catch up services like 4OD or iPlayer and if you like to download music and films you'll be able to feed your hobby each month.

The free wireless router that's bundled with the National Broadband M package won't cost you any extra and it allows you to connect laptops, smartphones, network-ready printers and games consoles to your broadband connection with no wires involved to mess up the process.
