Deals of the Week: Friday 2 December

Friday, December 2nd 2016 by Dan Howdle
Welcome to my first roundup of the hottest deals in broadband, TV and phone this week. Before we kick off, don’t forget, we have a full set of Ofcom-approved comparison tools which will show you exactly what you can get at your address. These are my picks of limited time special offers which, as you will see from the ‘offer ends’ dates aren’t hanging around long. So, without further ado…

Generous free gifts with the last of Sky’s Black Friday deals (Extended till Sunday 11 December)

Yes, unbelievably, Sky’s awesome Black Friday free gift offers are still going until Sunday 11 December (this has been extended from Sunday 4 December), offering you your choice of tech gifts. Even if none of these gifts interest you personally, they make outstanding gifts for anyone that might, though if you’re taking up this deal now, getting hold of the gift before Christmas – which will only be available once your services are up and running – might be a stretch.

You can choose between a free 43” UHD 4K TV (Sky Box Sets with Sky Multiscreen bundles only), a Xbox One S (Sky Box Sets bundle only), a 32” LG HDTV, a Lenovo laptop or a £150 voucher for Amazon, Tesco or MasterCard (which you can spend almost anywhere). This offer is available to all new Sky customers, or lapsed customers who have been without Sky for 12 months or more.

Monthly prices are between £20 for the Original bundle and £62 for the Complete bundle – which includes Sky Sports and Sky Cinema.

£75 pre-paid MasterCard with £15 per month Unlimited Sky Broadband

This deal applies only to Sky’s awesome Black Friday free gift offers. Not being fibre means it’ll be slower (up to 17Mbps, depending on where you live). It is, however, fast enough for most people, offering the ability to stream HD content (though not UHD 4K) as well as all those other things we like to do on the web like pay our bills and stalk our friends and family on Facebook.

It’s £15 per month for 12 months, with a £9.95 up-front cost and you’ll need to be hooked up to your services before you can reclaim the voucher.

Up to £150 worth of reward cards with BT broadband and BT Infinity (Ends Monday 5 December)

BT is selling a truckload of broadband packages right now, and with the near-unmatched generosity of its reward card voucher offers it’s not hard to see why.

This deal ends on Monday 5 December, so you’ll need to jump soon, if you haven’t already missed it, that is. It offers a £100 BT Reward Card (which acts like a MasterCard and can be spent practically anywhere) with BT broadband (up to 17Mb non-fibre) and a £150 BT Reward Card for any BT Infinity fibre deal.

Do remember that to get your reward card you will have to wait until you’re up and running with the service and manually claim it back via the BT website. BT broadband deals have a £9.99 up front cost, while BT Infinity asks £59.99 upfront.

You can read more about it on our dedicated BT Reward Card deal page.

Plusnet broadband for £18 per month for 18 months, including line rental (Ends Monday 5 December)

Plusnet wants to buck the trend of giving back in the form of vouchers by not taking away in the first place. Its £18 per month broadband deal, which includes line rental, is one of the cheapest we’ve ever seen. It’s not fibre, but at 17Mbps it’s fast enough for most households.

The only ‘catch’ if you can call it out is you’ll be tied in for 18 months – that’s six months longer than is standard for most providers. Keeping you as a longer-term prospect, however, is what has allowed Plusnet to keep the price so low, and being a Plusnet customer is no bad thing: Plusnet won four out of five of our customer-voted broadband service awards this year, including the top gong – Best Broadband Provider.

There’s a £6.99 router delivery fee, but other than that you’re golden. You can read more about this offer on our dedicated Plusnet broadband deals page.

Substantial price reduction on Virgin Media Full House movie bundle (Ends Feb 2017)

I’ve saved this one till last not because it’s not a great deal – it wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t – but because this deal is on for ages and ages. Till well into next year, in fact.

For those who can get Virgin Media – around 50% of the UK, if you’re unsure check here – this deal offers a reduction from £80 per month to £55 per month on Virgin’s Full House Movie Bundle , which includes the cost of line rental, 200Mb fibre broadband, over 240 entertainment channels, unlimited weekend call plan all 11 Sky Cinema channels and BT Sport.

It’s still a lot of money, but boy do you get a lot for that price. The link you need for that, along with further details of this deal can be found on our dedicated Virgin Media Full House bundle deals page.
