Does DST broadband use traffic management?
No, Direct Save does not prioritise certain types of online activity over others, so your internet speeds will not be slowed down artificially at any time.
Be aware, however, that you may still experience natural variations in speed during peak hours. This is due to the increased network demand from other customers.
Can I get free international calls?
Direct Save doesn’t currently offer an inclusive international calls packages but does have two international call plans that reduce what you pay per minute.
The DST Standard International Plan is free and undercuts the international rates of a number of leading rival suppliers. Further reductions are available with the paid DST International plan.
International call rates vary depending on the destination of your call. A full list of charges is available on the Direct Save Telecom website.
What is Direct Save Telecom fibre-to-the-home?
It’s Direct Save’s fibre to the premises (FTTP) service whereby fibre optic cables run directly to your home.
This allows for consistently faster download and upload speeds compared to fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) services, where although fibre cables carry data to and from your local telephone exchange, copper cables carry it the remaining distance you your home from your roadside telephone cabinet, and as a result, it slows down.
Fibre-to-the-premises services – or fibre-to-the-home (FTTP/FTTH) – are considerably more expensive for providers to deploy and as such aren’t as readily available as fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) solutions.
Direct Save’s FTTP service is currently available to a couple of dozen specific locations, with others expected to go live soon. You can check availability on the Direct Save Telecom website.
What is the Direct Save Discount Card?
It’s a consumer savings scheme offered to Direct Save customers that allows them to make savings on high street and online purchases.
