How do I compare different packages?
If you are looking to enhance your Sky package, you can compare the deals in our table above. There are many ways to upgrade your TV, broadband and phone plan, which are clearly listed above. When deciding, take into account the price, features and contract length, and you should be able to find the perfect package.
The availability of Sky packages varies if you upgrade your Sky broadband. Although Sky broadband is available in the majority of UK homes, those who are outside the network area will only be able to get Sky Broadband Connect. It is a little pricier, slower, and subject to 40GB usage.
You can use our availability checker to find out which services you can get. We will then list the offers that are available to you and any deals that will help cut down your monthly costs.
Check the detail
Before upgrading, make sure you are happy with your package without rushing into any decisions. Everyone would love to have the fastest broadband but it’s only available in certain areas. Also, take time to read through the small print, which will include important information on contract length, cancellation terms and additional charges.
Why choose to upgrade your Sky package?
There are many reasons to upgrade your Sky package; here are just a few of them.
A variety of upgrade packages
If you are looking to upgrade your TV, broadband or phone package there are a lot of affordable deals to choose from. From TV packages that offers a wide choice of channels to broadband packages with top speeds and unlimited usage. Whether your family is full of TV addicts or online geeks, you are sure to find something that suits your household.
Upgrading is often free
Upgrading your equipment is free, although you’ll need to sign up for another 12 months in order to receive this free service. However, some add-ons such as Sky Sports and Sky Movies only require a commitment of 31 days. So if you decide to cancel after a month, you can just call the Sky team, who will be able to terminate the contract for free.
Adding a service like broadband and phone with one supplier is more convenient rather than buying from several providers. It’s less stressful and a lot easier to handle. There’s no need to add a new direct debit as everything will be added to your existing monthly bill. Plus, if you have a problem you’ll just have to deal with one provider.

Sky TV offers a huge range of entertainment, drama and sports channels in HD. With added extras including on demand and catch up TV, there are a number of reasons to upgrade. There are also different ways to upgrade, depending on which bundle you currently have.
Remember that if you have already taken the Sports Bundle then you will get more non-sport and HD channels by moving to the Family Bundle and "bolting on" Sky Sports, but you will be paying extra. The same applies to the Movies Bundle; switching to the Family Bundle and bolting on Sky Movies gets you more channels at a slightly higher cost.
- Original Bundle – Upgrade to the Variety Bundle
- Variety Bundle – Upgrade to the Family Bundle
- Family Bundle – Upgrade to the Complete Bundle, or bolt on either Sky Sports or Sky Movies
- Sports Bundle – Upgrade to the Complete Bundle, or the Family Bundle with Sky Sports
- Movies Bundle – Upgrade to the Complete Bundle, or the Family Bundle with Sky Movies
- Complete Bundle – This is the top package, so there are no upgrades from here, apart from specialist channels such as MUTV and Chelsea TV, or bolt-on packages such as BT Sport
Whether you want to enhance your Sky TV with standard broadband or fibre broadband, there is a package to suit everyone.
Sky Broadband Unlimited comes with a download speed of up to 17Mbps and unlimited usage, so you can download as much as you like. For those who want speedier broadband, it’s worth going for Sky Fibre Unlimited. This includes a download speed of up to 38Mbps, enough to download an HD movie in approximately 20 minutes.
If you spend a lot of time on the phone catching up with friends and family, it may be worth opting for a call plan, which is combined with the broadband packages. You’ll get free inclusive calls to UK landlines, including 0845 and 0870 numbers. The calls are restricted to 60 minutes, so hang up before the hour is up and redial to avoid any incurring charges.
There is a choice of Weekend Calls and Anytime UK Upgrade. If you don’t want to wait until the weekend to use your home phone, then it’s worth purchasing the Anytime UK Upgrade plan. You’ll be able to make calls any time of the day.
What will I need?
Here are a few things you’ll need when you get an upgrade package.
You’ll need a Sky+HD box
If you are adding new channels to your TV package, then it’s unlikely you’ll need new equipment. But, if you have the old set-top box and are upgrading to high definition, you’ll need to install a Sky+HD TV box in order get the full HD experience. Sky will provide you with a new set-top box and will send an engineer to your home to make the swap, free of charge.
If you are planning to add broadband and a home phone to your existing package, you’ll need a Sky Hub router. It’s very easy to install, with no help required. Sky will supply you with a router for free, but you’ll have to pay £6.95 for postage and packaging. If you don’t have a landline, Sky can arrange for one to be fitted.
