Vodafone has knocked down the price of its data-heavy SIM-only deals, offering 16GB for £21 a month. Offer ends 2 May.

For the next three weeks the price has been dropped from £34 a month. As well as unlimited minutes and texts you’ll get a free 12-month subscription to either a NOW TV Entertainment Pass, Spotify Premium or Sky Sports Mobile TV app.

Free Spotify Premium for a year

A Spotify Premium subscription costs £9.99 so over the year you’d stand to make a saving of just under £120.

When it comes to saving money and getting more bang for your buck, a SIM-only deal is definitely the way forward. You can keep your existing smartphone and get a relatively large data package for a fraction of the price that you would pay for a phone contract.

The package in question spans a 12-month contract, but Vodafone does also offer 30-day rolling plans or pay as you go SIM-only deals, if you don’t fancy being locked in for a year.

Think you’ll blast your way through 16GB in no time? Challenge accepted as Vodafone also has a 25GB Red Entertainment SIM-only deal for £25 a month. Too much? At the lower end of the data spectrum, Vodafone is also offering deals on its 6GB and 2GB tariffs.

All plans come with a three-month free trial of Secure Net so you won’t have to worry about malware and viruses when you browse the net. If you decide to keep the service it will cost £1 a month.

Vodafone Global Roaming is included with all the deals mentioned so you can use your tariff abroad in 110 countries worldwide. There is also the option to purchase a Vodafone Pass, which will give you unlimited data exclusively for either, streaming, chatting, or scrolling through social media sites.

Upgrade after three months

When you get to month three of your 12-month SIM-only plan, you have the option to upgrade to a new phone deal.

If after 30 days of joining you decide the network isn’t right for you, you have the right to cancel your contract without incurring any penalty fees.

Although you can jump out of the deal within the first 30 days, when signing up to any form of contract it’s important that you do your homework and shop around. It is the amount of data you need that determines which provider is offering the best deal.

Virgin Mobile is currently has a Flash Sale offering 100GB with 5,000 minutes and unlimited texts for £20 a month. This deal expires at midnight on 23 April. Alternatively, Three is offering 30GB for £20 a month. It’s not quite as good as Virgin’s but has more longevity.

If you’re looking for something under a tenner, Plusnet Mobile is offering 1.5GB of data for £6 a month or 2GB for £10 a month.
