Google has released the latest edition of its flagship phone, the Google Pixel 2.

The new device is said to have the “highest-rated camera ever”, all-day battery life and an Assistant service that lets customers voice control their handset.

Google’s Pixel 2 comes in two sizes, the 5-inch its 6-inch bigger brother the Pixel 2 XL. Both handsets have the same features and a capacity of 64GB.

The pair are available in Just Black, Clearly White and Kinda Blue and are both powered by Android 8.0 Oreo.

The standard sized device has been described as having a “crystal-clear cinematic OLED display” whereas the bigger handset has “razor-sharp pOLED 18:9 display” which creates full screen immersive viewing.

Any customer purchasing a Pixel 2 before 31 December 2017, can get a Google Home Mini for free.

Although Google has released information about the new phone, an exact date has not yet been announced.

However, the handset is now available to pre-order through EE or the Carphone Warehouse.

EE has announced that it is the preferred supplier chosen by Google to retail the new handset.

Marc Allera, ceo of EE, said: “The first Pixel smartphones raised the bar in mobile innovation – from the best-in-class camera, to the remarkable AI powered Google Assistant.

“The all new Pixel 2 features Google’s very latest technology and will look to raise it once again.”

The Pixel 2 through EE costs £47.99 a month with £9.99 to pay upfront. This is on EE’s 24 month 4GEE Max plan, which comes with unlimited minutes, unlimited texts and 8GB of data for the normal price of just 3GB.

The Pixel 2 XL is £10 a month more (£57.99 a month).

Combined within its packages, EE offers customers three months of free BT Sport and six months free Apple Music.

For customers who would like O2 as their service provider, the cost of the Pixel 2 is £42 a month with £79.99 upfront. This includes a 3GB tariff over the course of 24 months with unlimited texts and calls.

Alternatively customers can opt for O2’s “bestseller” deal which includes 15GB data allowance for £44 a month with £59.99 to pay upfront.

This deal is also over a 24 month contract.

Vodafone’s recommended package through the Carphone Warehouse is the 4GB tariff for £42.00 a month over 24 months. For customers to get their hands on this deal they will have to pay £69.99 a month.

Or for more data customers can opt for the 16GB tariff on Vodafone for £44 a month and pay £89.99 upfront.

Carphone Warehouse says this deal is exclusive to its website.

All of Vodafone’s plans include Vodafone Global Roaming in 110 countries.

Virgin Media

If customers are willing to pay £609 upfront, Virgin Media will offer them the Pixel 2 with 1GB of data for £9. This deal includes 1500 minutes and unlimited texts.

With the same upfront price the monthly cost goes up to £12 for 2GB of data and £15 for 4GB.

For £25 a month and £609 paid upfront customers can have 20GB of data, 500 minutes and unlimited texts.

Each plan includes free WhatsApp messaging and data rollover.

ID Mobile

ID Mobile offers customers the new Pixel 2 for £43.99 a month. This includes 2GB of data allowance, 2000 minutes and 5000 texts over a 24-month contract.

To get this deal customers will have to pay £59.99 upfront.

For 4GB of data each month customers will pay £43.99 a month for the same number of calls and texts but with £79.99 to pay upfront.

Customers can lower their monthly payout by increasing the upfront cost. On the 2GB tariff, paying £129.99 upfront brings the monthly cost down to £41.99.

It’s an extra £20 upfront cost for the 4GB tariff.

At present the Carphone Warehouse only stock the Google Pixel 2 so customers looking for the Pixel 2 XL will have to go through EE or Google directly.
