Sky's new, cheapest ever broadband deal is now the cheapest in the UK by some margin – Comment

  • Sky drops price of its 17Mb ADSL broadband service to a just £15 per month including line rental
  • The deal, available country-wide is the cheapest broadband ever offered by Sky and takes the crown of cheapest deal in the UK by a comfortable margin
  • Closest contenders for cheapest deal are £18.99 per month from First Utility and £19.49 from Origin Broadband
  • Deal saves nearly £50 per year over closest rival

Commenting on the deal, Dan Howdle, consumer telecoms analyst at broadband advice site Cable.co.uk, says: "No one can say conclusively whether this is the cheapest deal ever – to do that you'd have to adjust for inflation and the rising cost of line rental over the last decade or so – but this is certainly the cheapest broadband deal I've seen in many years."

"Sky is not only now the cheapest provider while this offer is in place, it also offers some of the best speeds over ADSL (non-fibre), the lowest latency (good for online gaming), and the most reliable service.

"Were I not in the middle of my existing contract I would not hesitate to switch."
