To enhance your viewing experience, Apple has added support for Dolby Atmos audio as well as improving some if its accessibility features.
Released in Autumn last year, The Apple TV 4K is a streaming device that connects to your telly so you can watch your favourite films and shows in 4K HDR quality. You can download and stream content from apps like BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, Amazon Prime Video and NOW TV.
Coinciding with the rollout of the tvOS 12 software update, Apple will extend its iTunes collection of Dolby Atmos-supported movies. The Apple TV app will get a facelift as well. It will become easier to sign in as you won’t have to go through the authentication process, instead it will automatically detect your broadband network and sign you in.
If you aren’t in possession of a Apple TV 4K device, prices start at £179 for the streaming player with 32GB of storage.
Amazon recently introduced the Amazon Fire TV Cube, which many tech critics have slammed for trying to appeal to the Apple TV 4K’s fans. The Fire TV Cube also streams in 4K Ultra HD and supports Dolby Atmos audio.
As you probably predicted the device is operated by Amazon’s personal assistant, Alexa, and has a built-in speaker so you can control your other smart home devices, play music and stream films and tv shows with a simple voice command.
For the moment it seems the pre-order of the device is only available in the US, but watch this space, we’ll keep you posted if it comes to the UK.
