Billy Zane and Miranda Richardson join cast of Sky One street race drama Curfew
Yet more big names have joined the cast of Sky One’s upcoming thriller Curfew, which follows the story of some extraordinary characters competing in an illegal night-time street race.
Billy Zane, Miranda Richardson, Harriet Walter and Michael Biehn have all signed on to feature in the Sky original production, which is written and executive produced by Matthew Read, whose credits as a writer include Hammer of the Gods and Pusher.
Curfew’s ensemble cast also includes Sean Bean, Adrian Lester, Phoebe Fox, Malachi Kirby, Robert Glenister, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Rose Williams, Elijah Rowen and Guz Khan.
We don’t yet know exactly when we’ll be able to watch Curfew but Sky says the eight-part series will arrive on Sky One and streaming service NOW TV sometime in 2019.
Billy Zane, known for his roles in Titanic, Zoolander and Back to the Future, said: “Joining the immensely talented cast and crew of Curfew as Joker Jones fulfils many cinematic and literary fantasies all at once.
'Fasten your seatbelts'
“Playing a gonzo cowboy, member of a viral video performance art troupe, on a healing hell-ride, just about falls square in my wheelhouse right now.”
Oscar-nominated Miranda Richardson, who played Queenie in Blackadder and Rita Skeeter in the Harry Potter movies, has more recently appeared on the silver screen in Churchill and Stronger.
She said: “A childhood of soaking up westerns has finally paid off, except that the horses are replaced by cars.
“I’m feeling lucky to be interpreting Matthew Read’s Lou: kind, tough, brave, practical and romantic – someone you definitely want on your team. All this and the chance to drive two wildly different vehicles. Curfew is covering a lot of new ground for me which is always fun. Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.”
Last week we told you about another original series coming to Sky One – police action comedy Bulletproof, starring Kidulthood’s Noel Clarke and Top Boy’s Ashley Waters.
Both new series will be looking to emulate the success of previous Sky originals Save Me, which is the most rapidly binged box set ever released by Sky, and Britannia, which has accumulated more than 10 million downloads and on-demand views across Sky’s various platforms.
