TalkTalk warms up for Black Friday by adding 30 new channels to its TV packages

Wednesday, November 15th 2017 by Oprah Flash

Slowly but surely we’re seeing a trickle of providers lower their prices in the run up to Black Friday and TalkTalk has jumped on the bandwagon by adding extra channels to its TV and broadband bundles.

TalkTalk’s latest offer boosts the Fast Broadband with TV Plus package by adding 30 extra entertainment channels for half the price. It now costs £25.95 a month on a 12-month contract.

Within this bundle you’ll get broadband speeds up to 17Mbps, TV Plus and the extra entertainment channels.

The TalkTalk TV feature allows you to pause and rewind 80 Freeview channels, access On Demand services such as BBC iPlayer and ITV Hub, and rent movies from the TalkTalk TV Store.

The range of extra entertainment channels offered by TalkTalk as part of the deal is varied enough to suit most households. From Nat Geo Wild to Comedy Central and Sky Living you’ll be able to get your comedy fix, watch a documentary or binge on US dramas like Grey’s Anatomy.

There is still a charge for the TV box which will add a one-off cost of £25 to your bill but TalkTalk has waived setup fees.

The same package but with 'Faster Fibre' 76Mbps download speeds costs £33.50 a month.

Last month TalkTalk announced it was celebrating Black Friday early and dropped its prices by 25% for a limited period.

Sky TV and broadband from £38 a month

To get TV and Broadband from Sky prices start at £38 a month for the first year. For this you’ll get a combination of Sky’s Original TV bundle, a Sky Q TV box and Broadband unlimited with up to 17Mbps.

When signing up to this deal you’ll have to pay a one-off £19.95 activation fee. You’ll be entered into an 18-month contract where you pay £38 a month for the first 12 months then your bill will change to £48.99 for the remaining six months.

The Sky Original Bundle gives you more than 290 channels with the option to add Sky Cinema for another £10 a month.

BT with free £125 Reward Card

For BT’s Entertainment TV package with broadband you need to choose the Entertainment and Infinity plan. It costs £39.99 a month over an 18-month contract and you’ll get download speeds up to 52Mbps and 100 TV channels.

It is a lot pricier than TalkTalk’s offering for entertainment TV but it offers much faster download speeds.

To add BT Sports to this package its an extra £3.50 a month.

Up until tomorrow BT is giving away a £125 Reward Card when you sign up to any of its TV and fibre broadband bundles.

Virgin Media with six months of free Netflix

If you want the superfast broadband speeds from Virgin Media but want to have access to entertainment channels like the ones TalkTalk is offering, the Full House Bundle is likely to be the option for you.

You’ll pay £56 a month which is the most expensive of the packages mentioned but it gives you download speeds up to 100 Mbps, more than 230 channels and weekend calls.

Once you sign up to the 12 month contract you’ll pay a £20 setup fee. As an added bonus Virgin Media has added a six-month free Netflix subscription to the bundle.

If you’re more interested in the TV channels than the download speeds, TalkTalk’s offer is good value for money.
