Boxing is perfect for Sky's 3D channel, says Haye

Boxing champion David Haye has backed Sky's 3D coverage of his upcoming title fight with Audley Harrison.

World heavyweight champion David Haye has claimed boxing fans with Sky 3D TV are in for a treat.

Speaking to Pocket-lint.com, the London-born fighter said watching the sport in 3D will increase entertainment levels and make viewers "feel like you're in the ring with the guys".

Haye's highly-anticipated world title fight with Audley Harrison in Manchester on November 13th will be the first live boxing event to be shown on Sky's new 3D channel.

John Dollin, Sky's product manager of 3D, said the way boxing is filmed makes the sport ideal for the extra dimension.

He told the website: "3D works well when you get up close to the subject matter and what you have in boxing is the cameras sitting right at the side of the ring."

Mr Dollin also revealed that the digital TV and broadband provider has been testing out 3D techniques for boxing coverage over the past two years.

The Haye versus Harrison bout, entitled Best of Enemies, will be available to watch on Sky Box Office 3D and Sky Box Office HD.
