BT launches new customer service tool

Wednesday, May 27th 2009 by Cable.co.uk

People who subscribe to BT's services can now get support from the company via a new instant messenger tool.

A new tool designed to improve customer service support has been launched by home phone and broadband provider BT.

The company's new Live Chat tool gives subscribers access to a support advisor without the need for a phone and allows them to easily get information on billing and account changes.

It is also hoped the service will provide a boost to disabled people, who may struggle with voice calls.

Warren Buckley, director of strategy and eServices for BT, said the firm knows telephone communications do not work for everyone.

"Live Chat offers our customers an alternative way to interact with BT and enables them to be confident that someone is on-hand to answer their questions in real time," he added.

BT recently joined forces with rival mobile broadband provider 3 to call for the cost of calls to mobile handset to be reduced.
