BT offers free BT Sport with broadband packages

Friday, August 11th 2017 by Phil Wilkinson-Jones

BT is offering free BT Sport with its broadband packages to celebrate the start of the football season.

Until 15 August, signing up to any 12-month broadband deal with BT will also get you a year’s access to all of the provider’s sports channels.

BT’s TV Starter package, which comes with 17Mbps broadband and free weekend calls, is currently £24.99 a month for 12 months and comes with a £40 BT reward card.

The same TV and calls package with 52Mbps broadband is £29.99 and comes with an £80 reward card.

BT Sport is showing 42 live Premier League games this season as well as 24 live FA Cup matches and the whole of the Champions League and Europa League tournaments.

It will also show live Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Scottish Premiership and FA Women’s Super League matches.

BT Sport's Premier League coverage kicks off on 30 September with Chelsea against Manchester City, followed by Arsenal's clash with new boys Brighton on 1 October.

Over the following weeks, viewers will also be able to see reigning champions Chelsea in action against Bournemouth and Liverpool, a London derby between Spurs and Crystal Palace, and Newcastle's trip to Manchester United.

A year of free BT Sport will also take in the winter Ashes series as England look to defend the urn against Australia, T20 action from the Big Bash and Caribbean Premier League, Aviva Premiership and European rugby, boxing, UFC, MotoGP and WTA Tour tennis.

After 12 months, BT TV customers will be charged £3.50 a month for BT Sport unless they cancel.

The £3.50 fee was only introduced at the beginning of August as BT looked to start recouping some of the £1.18bn it paid for Champions League and Europa League rights. BT Sport was previously free to BT TV customers.

Access to the BT Sport app is £7 a month for BT broadband-only customers after the initial 12 months. BT broadband customers watching on Sky TV will be charged £16.75 after month 13.

Existing BT customers can also take advantage of the free BT Sport offer, as long as they’ve never had it before.
