BT offers up to 54% discount on unlimited broadband packages
BT has cut the price of its unlimited broadband packages by up to 54%, for a limited time only.
Unlimited broadband from BT, which provides speeds of up to 17Mbps, is now £5.99 per month, a saving of 54% on the previous package price of £13 per month.
BT’s entry-level fibre broadband package Infinity 1, which offers speeds of up to 52Mbps, is now 45% cheaper. It was previously priced at £20 per month but is now £10.99 per month.
Customers signing up to BT Infinity 2 will get up to 76Mbps fibre broadband for £25 per month – previously £30 per month.
BT broadband also includes free access to BT wi-fi, online security protection and cloud storage.
New subscribers can combine one of the above broadband offers with a BT TV package. BT’s Starter TV offering is currently free for 12 months and includes the standard 80 Freeview channels plus BT Sport and access to catch up TV and the BT store.
The new offers launch on the same day BT announced price increases across broadband, line rental, calls and TV.
From 3 July, standard and unlimited broadband customers will pay £2 more a month, rising to £15 and £20 respectively. BT Infinity subscribers will have to pay up to £3 more per month depending on their package.
The cost of line rental will rise by £1 per month to £18.99. BT’s anytime calls plan will see an increase of 6.9% from £7.95 to £8.50 per month.
'Customers never welcome price rises'
The price rises come after BT bumped up the speed of its Infinity 1 broadband package from 38Mbps to 52Mbps last month. BT said today this speed increase would compensate for the rise in price.
John Petter, chief executive of BT's consumer division, said: "It is clear that customers want better service and that is what we are going to give them.
"We have also done our best to ensure that all of our customers will get more value if their price is going up, and we know they want faster speeds and better online security from their broadband.
"So, most of our Infinity 1 customers will enjoy much faster speeds for a little extra, while all of our customers will receive a quicker response if they have a fault and free BT Net Protect security."
“We realise that customers never welcome price rises, but we have again ensured that low-income customers avoid increases."
In addition to this week’s broadband offers, BT Mobile is running a sale on its SIM-only tariffs. Its 2GB plan is now free for the first two months for existing broadband customers – rising to £10 per month thereafter.
New mobile customers will also receive an Amazon or iTunes giftcard ranging from £5 with the 500Mb plan to £25 with the 20Gb tariff.
