BT Sport streams part of rugby show live on Facebook and Twitter
BT Sport has started streaming the first 15 minutes of its rugby union magazine show for free on Facebook and Twitter.
The broadcaster is giving social media users a taster of its Rugby Tonight show in the hope they like what they see and sign up for more.
The weekly show is presented by Craig Doyle, Martin Bayfield and Sarra Elgan and is shown on the BT Sport channels.
For the first time, part of last night’s episode was also streamed on Facebook and Twitter.
Over the season, the show will feature BT Sport rugby experts including Ben Kay, Austin Healey, Ugo Monye, Brian O’Driscoll and Lawrence Dallaglio.
The season kicked off last night with special guest Maro Itoje of Saracens, England and the British & Irish Lions.
BT Sport is also making its football results show, BT Sport Score, available to watch live on Twitter throughout the season.
And last season’s Champions League and Europa League finals were broadcast live on YouTube as well on BT Sport channels.
The Champions League final was also shown in VR via a number of 360 degree streams on YouTube and the BT Sport Virtual Reality app.
Simon Green, head of BT Sport, said: “This is a further sign that BT Sport is at the heart of innovation in sport.
“Social media enables fans to watch Rugby Tonight on the move for the first part and for those who do not subscribe to BT Sport to see what we offer and sample BT Sport’s approach to sport and strong programming.”
BT Sport will broadcast up to 69 Aviva Premiership matches this season as well as showing highlights of every game in the competition. It will also cover both of rugby’s elite European competitions – the Champions Cup and the Challenge Cup.
