Danish thriller series The Rain comes to Netflix in May
While the weather can’t quite make up its mind, you may as well start planning some indoor activities because, who knows if summer is ever coming back?
This is where access to your mate's Netflix password comes in handy so you can keep ‘busy’ while the rain is pouring. Speaking of rain, next month, Netflix has a mahoosive amount of new shows coming to its service, and one in particular that we like the look of is The Rain.
The Danish thriller series will premiere on Netflix on 4 May. Set in a post-apocalyptic Scandinavia, a brother and sister are thrust into a world where every trace of life has been wiped out by a virus spread by the rain.
They team up with a group of survivors and embark on a perilous adventure in a vain attempt to find some sign of life, but civilisation and societal rules have long gone making their struggle for survival near impossible. Along the way the group still encounter love, jealousy and coming-of-age drama.
With a cast featuring Alba August (Reliance), Mikkel Boe Følsgaard (A Royal Affair), Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen (The Keeper of Lost Causes) and Lars Simonsen (The Bridge), this is an exciting time for anyone wanting to explore Danish fiction.
It is also the perfect chance to brush up on your language skills without using Rosetta Stone, as the characters speak their mother tongue, Scandinavian, so the series is subtitled.
The trailer starts with a family frantically escaping the city in car, with a broadcaster announcing on the radio that there is an epidemic with acute allergic reactions and respiratory problems being the main symptoms. It appears a heavy rainfall is to blame for the brutal virus.
After five years of being holed up in some sort of underground bunker, two teenagers emerge to find the world they once knew has gone.
We think you’ll like it, it seems to have the right about of suspense and gripping plot to keep you bingeing 'til the end.
