Demand for short-term broadband options is growing, says TenTel

Monday, November 14th 2016 by Phil Wilkinson-Jones

TenTel says its record growth over the past 12 months shows a growing need for short-term broadband options.

The provider specialises in offering short-term contracts – either six months or no contract, which it says are ideal for renters.

It is currently signing up more than 100 customers a day – a target originally set for 2017 – and had its most successful-ever month in October, with 2,000 orders placed.

Managing director Robert McKechnie said: “The last 12 months have seen fantastic growth for TenTel and our record figures are testament to this.

“We have established ourselves as one of the fastest-growing independent internet service providers in the UK, with more than 10 per cent revenue growth month-on-month.

“We are seeing growing demand for short-term broadband options as well as telephone contracts that don’t tie you in to lengthy contracts or incur big connection charges.

“As well as appealing to the general consumer, letting agents also now account for an increasing portion of our customer base.”

Earlier this year, TenTel acquired utility management firm Hallmark and now offers an “all-inclusive hub”, which helps lettings agents manage tenant utilities, council tax and property services – as well as broadband, phone and TV services.

Speaking in July, Mr McKechnie said: “The combined experience and services of TenTel and Hallmark will help letting agents save time and resources while earning additional revenue from our referral programme.

“We were impressed with Hallmark’s 12 years’ service in the industry and identified this merger as the way forward to provide an all-inclusive service.”

'No strings'

Now TV launched a subscription-free broadband, TV and phone service earlier this year.

The Now TV Combo allows customers to bundle all three services together without a contract and gives them access to pay TV and free-to-air channels as well as on-demand content.

Gidon Katz, managing director of Now TV, said: “We know people want the freedom and control of a no strings relationship when it comes to choosing their TV, broadband and call package, so the Now TV Combo is the product and service they deserve.”
