Digital TV switchover begins in Lewis and Wester Ross

Wednesday, July 7th 2010 by Cable.co.uk

Homeowners in areas served by the Eitshal transmitter group have been told to retune their digital TV set-top boxes.

Households in Lewis, Wester Ross and parts of Skye may need to retune their digital TV set-top boxes, it has been revealed.

Digital UK has made the announcement as work gets underway to switch off analogue signals broadcast to the areas served by the Eitshal transmitter group.

While many homeowners will be able to receive digital TV for the first time as part of the changes, existing viewers will have to compensate for them by retuning their BT Vision or Freeview boxes.

It is believed that work to complete the switchover on the transmitter group will be completed on July 21st.

John MacNeil, Digital UK's assistance manager for Scotland, said: "Anyone who needs advice during this period should contact Digital UK or sign up for the Help Scheme if they are eligible."

Recent research by Digital UK revealed that older people feel more confident about new technology since the switchover was completed in their areas.
