Digital TV switchover completed at Eitshal transmitter

Thursday, July 22nd 2010 by Cable.co.uk

BT Vision viewers in areas including Lewis may need to retune their equipment after the digital TV switchover was completed in the region yesterday (July 21st).

Households using BT Vision and Freeview set-top boxes in areas including Lewis have been urged by Digital UK to retune their equipment.

The organisation has made the call after digital TV switchover work at the Eitshal transmitter, which also services Wester Ross and parts of Harris and Skye, was completed yesterday (July 21st).

Some viewers may find that channels are missing from their service as part of the changes, so they will need to reboot set-top boxes to ensure they get the full complement of services available.

John MacNeil, Digital UK's assistant national manager for Scotland, said the changes were "historic" as the area moved away from analogue signals.

He added: "As with any change on this scale, some people may need a bit of extra help so we and the Help Scheme are on hand to give advice and assistance to those who may need it."

Digital UK recently confirmed that it has also started switchover work at the Skriaig transmitter, which services areas including Benbecula and parts of Barra.
