EE and others offer fibre broadband deals without a set-up fee

Friday, November 3rd 2017 by Phil Wilkinson-Jones

For the next month or so EE is offering to install fibre broadband at your home for free, although you will still have to pay a monthly fee to actually get the service. Which is only fair really.

The provider will not charge its usual £35 set-up fee if you sign up to either of its fibre packages by 7 December.

EE’s basic fibre package offers speeds up to 38Mbps, which should be enough for most families to do what they need to online. It’s currently £29 a month on an 18-month contract.

If you need a bit more speed, there is also a 76Mbps option, which costs £33 a month. You can add Anytime Calls to either deal for an extra £4 a month.

There’s an added bonus if you also have your mobile EE as you’ll get a 5GB data boost, which is nice.

TalkTalk is also being generous enough to waive the set-up fee on its fibre broadband deals at the moment, as long you chuck them a few quid for providing the service.

TalkTalk’s 38Mbps fibre deal is cheaper than EE’s at £27.50 and also comes on an 18-month contract.

John Lewis Broadband is also offering 38Mbps fibre for £27.50 a month with no set-up fee. This deal is on a 12-month contract and – unlike EE and TalkTalk – John Lewis is throwing in inclusive evening and weekend calls, although you will have to pay the first month’s bill straight away.

TalkTalk’s faster 76Mbps package is £30 a month at the moment and John Lewis comes in a little more expensive at £32.50.

The final player in our little game of Fibre Broadband With No Set Up Fees is Origin, and it actually comes in cheapest of the lot at £25.99 a month. For that you get speeds up to 38Mbps on an 18-month contract and what is described as a budget-range router.

Origin’s 76Mbps package comes in just a penny cheaper than TalkTalk’s at £29.99 a month, again on an 18-month contract. Like John Lewis, Origin will want you to pay your first monthly bill on the day you sign up.
