EE offers free Beats X headphones with Christmas iPhone X deal

Monday, December 11th 2017 by Phil Wilkinson-Jones

There’s only two weeks left until Christmas Day and EE is celebrating by giving away a pair of Beats X headphones with the iPhone X – and you know this must be a cool deal because both things have X in their name.

Right from the off we’ll say this isn’t a cheap deal – monthly costs start at £62.99 – but you will be getting the most talked-about phone of the year, a generous data allowance and an impressive line-up of extras.

Launched in September, the iPhone X doesn’t have a home button or Touch ID, instead using facial recognition software to let you unlock the phone selfie-style. It also has an improved 12MP camera and the version we’re talking about here has 64GB of internal memory.

In with the iPhone X you already get EarPods with a Lightning Connector (because iPhones don’t have headphone jacks these days) but with this deal you can stick those straight in a drawer and forget about them because you’ll also get a pair of Beats X headphones.

You can upgrade your iPhone X after a year with EE, because it knows you'll have your eye on a younger model by then

Beats X are wireless headphones with a battery life of up to eight hours. If you’re in a hurry, just a five-minute charge will give you two hours of playback time. And it makes sense that EE is offering them in this deal as they are designed to work with your iPhone and will let you take calls, play music and talk to Siri.

There’s no faffing about with tiny amounts of data with this deal, EE is giving you 40GB to play with each month as well as unlimited calls and texts. You also get the nice little bonus of access to the BT Sport app for the entire length of the 24-month contract.

EE’s best-selling plan is £82.99 a month and a relatively modest £29.99 upfront fee. Or you could choose to save yourself a tenner a month and get the same plan for £72.99, although you’ll then be paying a hefty upfront fee of £199.99.

You can reduce those monthly payments even more but the handset still needs to be paid for, so you’ll just be increasing the amount you pay upfront. So to pay £67.99 a month you'll pay £299.99 upfront and to pay £62.99 a month you'll have to stump up £399.99.

As with all EE pay monthly plans at the moment, you will also get six free months of Apple Music so you’ll be able to stream your favourite tunes on your new phone without paying a penny.

As these are 4GEE Max plans we’re talking about, you will also be eligible for EE Annual Upgrade. These means that as soon as you’ve had your iPhone X for a year, you can take it back to EE and upgrade it for a newer model. The catch is that you’ll need to take out a new 24-month contract with the same or higher monthly payments as your current plan.
