EE launches new SIM-only deal – and it's only for iPhones

Monday, November 20th 2017 by Phil Wilkinson-Jones

If you’re firmly Team Android you may want to look away now, because EE has launched a SIM-only plan that’s just for iPhones.

The iPhone SIM is a 4GEE Max plan with added extras designed just for those with an Apple branded device, including up to £100 off a new iPhone when you’re ready to upgrade.

EE is offering the SIM on a 12-month contract for £26 a month and for that you get 22GB of data and unlimited calls and texts.

As with other 4GEE Max plans, you also get six free months of Apple Music and 12 months’ access to the BT Sport app.

The data you use on Apple Music won’t come out of your monthly allowance, so you’ll be able to stream songs until your heart’s content, while the BT Sport app is sure to come in useful with the Ashes coming up, although sleeping is also important.

When you’ve been on the iPhone plan for six months, then you’ll be eligible for up to £100 off a new handset. You’ll have to be sure about sticking with EE as your provider for this to entice you, as to take advantage you’ll need to sign up to a new pay monthly plan.

EE says its iPhone SIM is perfect if you’re thinking of getting an Apple Watch Series 3. Well, EE would say that, wouldn’t it? It wants you to buy an Apple Watch.

To be absolutely fair, EE is the only mobile provider in the UK offering the new version of the Apple Watch on a pay monthly basis, so it may have a point.

There are a few different options available – a choice of colours and cases, sporty straps, stainless steel straps and whatnot – and they’re all £25 a month, some with no upfront fee and some with upfront fees of between £129.99 and £159.

The watch lets you answer calls, send texts and talk to Siri while you’re out and about, even if you’ve left your phone at home. The £25 plan also includes unlimited data so you won’t eat into your phone’s allowance.

And yes, that's Kevin Bacon with an iPhone X.
