EE and Huawei launch UK's first next-generation 4G-enabled device

The Huawei E5776 mobile Wi-Fi is now available from EE.

EE has today (April 19th 2013) launched the UK's first 'CAT4' 4G-enabled device - the Huawei E5776 mobile Wi-Fi, which creates a super-fast mobile broadband hotspot for the user.

Designed for people looking to access the web on mobile devices at high speeds while out and about, the E5776 has been launched ahead of EE's recently announced 4G upgrades, which will see the operator double the speeds and capacity of the next-generation mobile network from June.

EE is the only carrier to have introduced a 4G mobile service in the UK, with the network set to cover 80 towns and cities - comprising 55 per cent of the country's population - within the next two-and-a-half months.

By this summer, double speeds will be available in ten cities - Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Sheffield.

Paul Jevons, director of products and devices at EE, said the company - which also runs the Orange and T-Mobile brands - is pleased to be launching its first next-generation 4G product.

Huawei Device sales director Rhys Saunders added: "The Huawei E5776 mobile Wi-Fi means all manner of connected devices can take advantage of the new super-fast network speeds EE is making available in the UK."
