EE offers free gifts including BeatsX headphones with smartphone deals

Friday, November 3rd 2017 by Phil Wilkinson-Jones

EE is offering a range of free gifts with top smartphones including wireless headphones, virtual reality headsets, smart speakers and games consoles.

The deals run until just before Christmas and to get involved you need to take an eligible phone on at least a 40GB plan.

As well as a free gadget, the featured iPhone, Samsung and Pixel deals also come with two years’ access to the BT Sport app and a six-month subscription to Apple Music.

These EE Max plans also allow you to use your minutes, texts and data in 53 countries as you would at home, including Australia, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, the US and countries across Europe.

These offers end on Wednesday 20 December.

iPhone X with free BeatsX headphones

The 64GB version of the iPhone X, which comes out today, is available on EE for £72.99 a month plus a £199.99 upfront cost.

This deal includes 40GB of data, unlimited texts and calls, and a pair of BeatsX headphones worth £129.99.

The headphones come with up to eight hours of battery life and can manage two hours of playback from just a five-minute charge.

They are designed to be compatible with your iPhone and let you take calls, play music and talk to Siri without taking your phone out of your pocket.

iPhone 8 or iPhone 7 with free Beats X headphones

You don’t have to go for the very latest version of the iPhone in order to take advantage of this offer from EE.

A 64GB iPhone 8 with 40GB of data, unlimited calls and texts will cost you £67.99 a month and £29.99 upfront.

It’s predecessor, the iPhone 7, is available with 40GB of data for £57.99 a month plus £9.99 upfront.

There are cheaper deals with EE, but this is the minimum you’ll need to go for if you want the BeatsX headphones.

Samsung Galaxy S8 or Samsung Galaxy S8+ with free Gear VR and Gear 360

The Samsung Gear VR virtual reality headset

Samsung’s new flagship phone, the S8, is available on a 40GB data plan for £62.99 a month and £99.99 upfront. It’s bigger brother, the S8+, is £67.99 a month and £9.99 upfront with 40GB of data.

As long as you take a contract with at least 40GB of data, both handsets come with a free Samsung Gear VR and a Samsung Gear 360 worth more than £300 in total.

The Samsung Gear VR is a virtual reality headset that connects with your phone and comes with a controller to help you navigate the world of virtual reality more easily.

There are more than 800 apps for you to explore including games such as Minecraft, Smash Hit and End Space. You can also do some painting in virtual reality with, um, Paint VR or explore the galaxy with Star Chart.

The Gear 360 is a camera that lets you shoot videos and photos in 360 degrees and in 4K.

Pixel 2 with free Google Home

Google’s latest smartphone offering, the Pixel 2, unsurprisingly comes with another Google device in tow.

Google Home is a smart speaker that will not only play songs for you but also acts as a digital assistant, so you can ask it questions as you would Siri or Alexa or sync it up with other devices around your home.

If you have a Chromecast you can ask Google Home to cast Netflix to your TV, for example, or link it up with Nest to control your heating using your voice.

EE says the Google Home is worth £129.99 but you can get one for free if you get a Pixel 2 with 40GB of data for £62.99 a month and £9.99 upfront.

Sony Xperia smartphones with free PS4 and GT Sport

GT Sport lets you race on real-life tracks and choose from more than 150 cars

EE’s Sony Xperia deals are a bit different to the others in that you don’t have to go for a big 40GB plan in order to bag a freebie.

As long as you sign up for at least 5GB of data a month on one of the following phones you’ll get a free PlayStation 4 and a copy of GT Sport, the latest instalment of the popular Gran Turismo franchise.

The downside is that with these lower data plans, you only get three months of BT Sport. To get two years of BT Sport you need to go for a 4GEE Max plan of at least 15GB.

Anyway, the cheapest way to grab a smartphone and PlayStation from EE is to go for the Sony Xperia L1 with 5GB of data. It’s £27.99 a month and there is no upfront cost. The Sony Xperia XA1 is a little more per month at £32.99 and you will have to shell out £49.99 upfront.

There’s a number of eligible plans and handsets available but EE has picked out the Sony Xperia XZ1 with 8GB of data at £52.99 a month with no upfront cost, and the Sony Xperia XZ Premium with 15GB of data for £57.99 a month and £9.99 upfront.

SIM-only deals with free Apple Music and BT Sport

There are no free gadgets here but if you get through quite a lot of mobile data and don’t need a new handset right now, EE has a couple of options that still include freebies.

An 18GB SIM is currently £21 and comes with three months’ access to the BT Sport app and six months of Apple Music, as well as unlimited calls and texts. You can also get 22GB for £26 with the same extras.

You can add accessories to EE handset plans

There is another way to get hold of the aforementioned gadgets from EE. By utilising 'Add to Plan' you can spread the cost of an accessory over 11 months interest-free, so you won't end up paying more than the RRP.

If you take out any 24-month EE handset plan today, you'll be able to add BeatsX headphones for an extra £10 a month. Far from paying extra you'll actually be paying £110 in total, a saving of £19.95 on EE's standalone price.

Google Home is also available for an extra £10 a month on top of your mobile plan, meaning you pay a grand total of £110 and save £19 on the standalone price.

From 8 November, you'll also be able to add the Samsung VR Collection to your package for £14 a month. This includes the Gear VR, 360 camera and 64GB memory card. You'll pay £154 in total, saving £145.99 on the standalone price according to EE.

A PlayStation 4, complete with a copy of GT Sport, is also available to add on to your plan from 8 November for £20 a month. That's £20 in total and saving of £29.99.
