EE offers inclusive roaming 'in more destinations' with new plans

EE’s new 4GEE Max plans will allow customers to use their calls, texts and data in 52 countries including the USA and Australia.

The provider is also offering inclusive roaming in Europe to all pay monthly and pay as you go mobile customers from 15 June.

Roaming charges will be banned within EU countries from that data but EE’s European destinations also include Switzerland, Monaco, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.

EE launches its new range of 4GEE Max plans on 10 May, featuring large data allowances and inclusive access to the BT Sport app.

4GEE Max customers will also be able to roam, free of charge, in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand as well as in 47 European destinations.

According to EE, those countries account for 80% of the time its customers spend abroad.

EE chief executive Marc Allera said: “Our customers want to be able to stay connected whether they’re travelling around the UK or abroad.

“We go further to provide our customers with 4G in more places across the UK than any other operator, and we’re offering inclusive roaming in more destinations as well – so our customers can stay in touch whether they’re lying on a beach in the Mediterranean, checking out the latest restaurants in New York, or hiking in New Zealand.”

The new Samsung Galaxy S8 is available on a 4GEE Max plan for £9.99 then £62.99 a month for 24 months. It comes with unlimited calls, unlimited texts and 25GB of data. SIM-only plans start at £10.99.

Vodafone scrapped roaming charges in 40 European destinations last month and started offering customers the ability to roam in a further 60 countries for an additional £5 a day.

The company’s UK CEO Nick Jeffery said: “Customers have told us they want us and the rest of the industry to change.

“They want life to be simpler and for us to remove the things which make life stressful so they can live their lives, uninterrupted by these concerns.

“Our new programme will do that over the next few years and will prove our commitment to letting our customers talk, text or stream for a great price, wherever in the world they may be.”
