EE offers its cheapest ever fibre broadband deal in January sale

Wednesday, January 10th 2018 by Oprah Flash

Unless you’ve been living in a cave you’re probably very aware that the January sales are all around us.

Internet service providers are following suit by dropping the prices of their broadband deals and in some cases offering cashback.

Until Monday 22 January in an exclusive sale, EE has dropped the price of its fibre broadband deal to £25 a month. This is the cheapest price the provider has ever offered for a fibre broadband connection.

EE’s Fibre Broadband plan comes with unlimited usage of download speeds up to 38Mbps. This can be used for binge-watching your favourite show on Amazon Prime Video, downloading albums and shopping online.

You’ll pay £25 a month over an 18-month contract as well as a one-off set-up fee of £35 to get started.

With this plan you can make calls but will have to pay as you go. To add inclusive anytime calls to landlines it’s an extra £4 a month. To have the anytime calls to landlines and mobiles it's £8 a month, which gives you 1,500 minutes to use when calling mobile numbers. If you’re likely to call abroad on a regular basis the Anytime UK and International calls add-on is £10 a month.

Fibre broadband from £25 a month

It’s not the cheapest on the market as Vodafone is currently offering a fibre broadband deal for £20 a month if you sign up through Cable.co.uk, however it is still a good deal and in line pricewise with deals from TalkTalk.

If you sign up to this deal now you stand to make a saving of £72 over the course of the contract as the price was £29 a month before the sale. EE mobile customers get a 5GB data boost as an extra loyalty bonus.

Be aware that the description 'speeds up to 38Mbps' is only a guideline and not an exact representation of the actual speeds you will receive, although fibre connections tend to be more reliable as well as faster than standard ADSL broadband. The speed you will get is dependant on a range of features including where you live, when you use the internet and how many people are using it at any one time.

There is also a sale on the Fibre Plus Broadband plan with speeds up to 76Mbps. It’s been dropped by £2 so the monthly cost is now £31 with the same one-off £35 set up fee.

For an extra £8 a month you can get more than 70 free channels on a TV box that lets you access on-demand services as well as Sky Sports, Sky Cinema, Rakuten TV, Hopster and hayu. You’ll be able to pause live TV and record shows you’ve missed to watch later.

We’ve mentioned quite a few prices here so let us clear things up. Fibre Broadband by itself costs £25 a month. Fibre Broadband with anytime calls is £29 a month and Fibre Broadband with EE TV is £33 a month. If you want it all together Fibre Broadband with EE TV and anytime calls is £37 a month. Got it?

If the January sale has piqued your interest and you’re at the end of your current contract, it’s pretty easy to switch. Simply choose your package online, enter your details and EE will look after the rest. If you need a new phone line installed there is an additional £60 charge to cover the cost.
