EE offers Black Friday savings of £199.99 with Google Pixel 2 deal

Friday, November 24th 2017 by Phil Wilkinson-Jones

If you’ve been thinking about giving Google’s new smartphone a try, now might be as good a time as any to take the plunge as EE has dropped the upfront cost on the Pixel 2 – a not insignificant saving of £199.99.

Yes you guessed it, it’s Black Friday working its magic again. EE has announced savings on a number of phones as part of deals that will run until Thursday 7 December, giving you two weeks to get involved.

On this specific deal EE really has binned an upfront fee of nearly two hundred quid, leaving you to pay £47.99 a month over a 24-month contract for the 64GB version of the phone, and £52.99 for the 128GB version.

Both plans come with 15GB of data to use each month as well as unlimited calls and texts. As they are 4GEE Max plans you’ll also get access to the BT Sport app for the full 24 months of the contract and six months of Apple Music.

EE’s Apple Music offer really is pretty good as it will let you stream without using up your data allowance. If you’ve fallen in love with the service after six months, you can keep it for an extra £9.99 on top of your monthly price.

Now where were we? Oh yes, the phone. With the Pixel 2, Google is trying to rival the big two premium smartphone makers – Apple and Samsung – and when you look at the specs it certainly seems to stand up.

The Pixel 2 has a 12MP camera, which is the same as you’ll get with the iPhone 8 or the Samsung Galaxy S8. The standard model also comes with a 64GB internal memory, again the equal of its rivals.

The Pixel 2 also comes with the Google Assistant built in so you can control your phone with your voice, and it has a nice little feature that automatically displays information about whatever song is being played where you are.

iPhone and Samsung Galaxy deals

If you’re not convinced and would still rather stick with an iPhone or a Samsung Galaxy, there are some other EE Black Friday deals that may appeal.

You can save £199.99 on the price of iPhone 7 or 7 Plus with EE at the moment as it isn’t charging an upfront fee until 7 December. The iPhone 7 is £35.39 a month and the iPhone 7 Plus is £40.49 a month.

The problem is that these deals come with only 500MB of data, which isn’t a lot and wouldn’t give you the freedom to really make the most of your phone.

There is more data on offer with EE’s iPhone 8 deals, which start at £57.99 a month for the 64GB version with 15GB of data. There’s an £49.99 upfront fee to pay, but this is a saving of £100 on the previous cost.

The iPhone 8 deals are on 4GEE Max plans so come with the free BT Sport and Apple Music.

If you’re more about the Samsungs, a Galaxy S8 is available with no upfront cost (a saving of £199.99) for £35.49 a month, while its bigger brother the Galaxy S8+ is £40.49 on a two-year plan. Again these are being offered with just 500MB of data and you have to ask yourself if that’s really going to be enough.
