Free Android tablet with the Nokia 3 or Samsung Galaxy J3 on Virgin Mobile

Thursday, February 8th 2018 by Marc Shoffman

Virgin is giving away a free Alcatel Pixi 4 7” tablet with a range of mid-tier phones. Anyone signing up to a Nokia 3 or Samsung Galaxy J3 phone contract will also get the Android-powered device thrown in.

You can get these on Virgin’s freestyle plans. For £12 a month you can get the Nokia 3 (pictured) with 300 minutes and 1.2GB of data.

There is a 4GB option for £15 a month that comes with 1,500 minutes or if calls are more important than downloads, you could get 2,500 minutes for £18 with 2GB of data or pay £19 to get the same minutes but 3GB.

Virgin is also currently offering 5,000 minutes and a whacking great 40GB of data for £21 a month. All these deals come with unlimited texts.

For the Galaxy J3, prices start at £15 for the entry-level 1.2GB tariff and go up to £24 for the 40GB plan.

Virgin’s deals offer a lot of flexibility. You can rollover unused data and messaging on Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and Twitter won’t use any of your allowance. You can choose between a 24 or 36-month contract and can change your data plan every 30 days if you like. Virgin customers also get access to millions of wi-fi hotspots across the UK.

Good mid-range handsets with a free Android tablet

Getting hold of the Nokia 3 may seem like a strange idea, given the latest model is now the Nokia 8. But this handset is only actually 11 months old and is still pretty reliable.

It offers an 8-megapixel autofocus camera on the front and back with a 5-inch HD display with hardwearing glass, so less chance of smashes and scratches. It also has 16GB built-in storage for photos, videos and apps, which you can boost to 128GB using the microSD slot.

Equally, the Samsung J3 doesn’t get the same respect as the S range, but offers high specs. The J3 has a 5MP camera on the front, which is great for selfies, and a strong 13MP on the back.

But perhaps the best part of this deal is that you will be getting a 7” Android tablet absolutely free. It usually retails for around £60, but for absolutely nothing you will get a tablet with a decent battery and tough splashproof exterior, which could be great if you want to keep the kids occupied and away from your more expensive devices.

This is only a wi-fi version so you would have to download items to watch films or shows on the move.

It has a relatively small 8GB memory so if you are an avid downloader you may want to use its expanded memory storage that gives you 32GB.

Users get a 2MP camera on the front and 0.3MP on the back for respectable video calls and pictures.

There is also a long lasting 2580mAh battery, which should at least keep the kids happy for hours while you play on your snazzy Nokia or Samsung handset.
