Get £100 cashback with the Huawei Mate 10 Pro in the Vodafone January sale
As you search the January sales for a great mobile deal it would easy to fall into the trap of looking exclusively at iPhones and Samsungs, but there are other options out there.
Vodafone is pointing us in the direction of one particular alternative by offering £100 cashback to anyone taking the catchily-named Huawei Mate 10 Pro on a pay monthly deal by 31 January 2018.
But you don’t have to wait until the New Year to get this deal. It’s available right now and at the time of writing you could even get it in time for Christmas, you just need to order by 10pm on 22 December.
Running on the latest version of the world’s most popular operating system – Android 8.0 (Oreo), the Huawei Mate 10 Pro has a 6” edge-to-edge screen reminiscent of the Samsung Galaxy S8 or iPhone X and comes with an impressive 128GB of internal storage as standard.
One of the most important features of a smartphone for many people is the camera and the Huawei Mate 10 Pro’s numbers suggest it is unlikely to let you down in this regard. It has a dual. As with the majority of flagship phones now, it has a dual rear camera – a 20MP monochrome lens and a 12MP RGB lens – as well as an 8MP front-facing camera. All the cool kids have a dual camera on their phone now, and you can too with the Huawei Mate 10 Pro
A choice of plans, all with £100 cashback
Talking of numbers, we’d best get down to how much this deal costs. As with the majority of mobile deals there’s a selection of tariffs to choose from. They all come with unlimited texts and most with unlimited minutes, too.
That leaves three factors for you to weigh up and balance against each other – how much data you need, the upfront cost and the monthly cost. For the purposes of this article we’ll leave out the two plans with small data allowances and relatively high upfront costs, leaving us with six plans that are actually broadly similar in price.
The cheapest of these is £42 a month plus £29 upfront and gives you 4GB of data. There are then two plans that will cost £48 a month – a Red Extra one that comes with a £19 upfront fee and gives you a 16GB data allowance, and a Red Entertainment one that costs an extra tenner upfront and gives you 8GB but also comes with a 24-month subscription to either Spotify, NOW TV or Sky Sports Mobile TV.
It’s a similar story at the £54 a month price point, as you can choose between a Red Extra plan that will give you a big ‘ol 40GB data allowance and a not-quite-as-massive 32GB on a Red Entertainment plan that again offers your pick of streaming subscription. Both of these will set you back £19 upfront.
The priciest plan on which you could get the Huawei Mate 10 Pro on Vodafone is £60 a month plus £19 up top and delivers a whopping 60GB of data with which to play.
On all of these plans there’s the option to add a Vodafone Pass, which give you unlimited streaming on specific apps. The video pass, for example, lets you stream Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube and DisneyLife endlessly without using up your data allowance for an extra £7 a month.
There’s also the promise of that juicy £100 cashback, of course. It seems the promotion isn’t actually being run by Vodafone but by Huawei itself. Vodafone does have some information on how to claim the reward, however, in its terms and conditions.
