Get a free Amazon Echo with Virgin Media TV bundles until 31 January

Tuesday, January 30th 2018 by Phil Wilkinson-Jones

Virgin Media is giving away a pretty nice freebie with some of its TV bundles right now, but you’ll have to be quick as the offer only runs until the end of January – and that’s not very far away at all.

So what’s the freebie we hear you ask. Well, it’s a free Amazon Echo. Pretty good, huh? But like we say, the deal ends at midnight on 31 January so you'd best hurry or you'll miss out.

The Amazon Echo retails at £89.99 and can fairly be described as a smart speaker. Once you’ve set it up using an app on your phone, you can ask it to do all sorts of things like set alarms, play music, order a pizza, control smart home devices and even answer silly questions.

If you sign up to the Mix, Fun, Full House or VIP TV bundles either today or tomorrow, you’ll get one of these for free. Alternatively, if you don’t want an Echo, Virgin will knock £90 off your first bill, which is nice of them.

If instead you plump for the Player bundle, Virgin’s most basic TV package, you’ll get a free Amazon Echo Dot. The Dot, worth £49.99, does all the same stuff as the Echo but is smaller and doesn’t have the best in-built speaker, although you can easily link it to a separate bluetooth speaker if you have one.

Again, Virgin understands that not everyone wants a smart speaker so if you choose not to have a Dot you’ll instead get £50 knocked off your first bill.

TV and broadband bundles from £33 a month

The Player bundle is currently £33 a month and gives you superfast broadband speeds up to 50Mbps and 79 mostly free-to-air channels plus a few in HD and access to catch-up TV. You also get unlimited weekend calls to UK landlines.

All Virgin’s TV and broadband bundles come with its newest set top box, the TV V6, as well as a £20 set up fee.

If you do decide to sign up now and want the free Echo, Virgin says it will dispatched by third-party supplier Exertis 28 days after your broadband and TV box have been set up. It also says you should contact Exertis if the gift does not arrive within three months, but doesn't give a contact number for the company in its Ts & Cs.
