Gigaclear and Hyperoptic up for Best Superfast Broadband at 2014 ISPAs
The Internet Service Providers' Association has unveiled the nominees for its annual awards.
Gigaclear and Hyperoptic are both in the running to win the Best Superfast Broadband category at the 2014 Internet Service Providers' Association Awards (ISPAs).
The two communications companies are among five nominees for the award, along with Gradwell, KC and Plusnet.
Gigaclear is installing ultrafast fibre-to-the-premises broadband across several rural communities, including parts of Kent, Oxfordshire and Rutland. Hyperoptic has taken an alternative approach, focusing solely on rolling out gigabit connectivity in major metropolitan areas such as London, Bristol, Cardiff and Reading.
Hyperoptic picked up the joint highest number of nominations for this year's ISPAs, along with Catalyst2. As well as Best Superfast Broadband, Hyperoptic is up for the Best Consumer Fixed Broadband, Customer Choice, Best Consumer Customer Service and Best Use of Digital prizes.
KC, the East Riding of Yorkshire-based ISP, has been shortlisted in three categories – Best Superfast Broadband, Best Business Customer Service and Best Business Use of Cloud.
It is one of three providers to pick up three nominations, along with Plusnet and Sky.
"Congratulations to all those shortlisted for the 2014 ISPAs, which again shows the real strength and diversity of the UK internet sector, which underpins the whole economy," said ISPA Secretary General Nick Lansman.
