Huawei joins board of Europe's 5G Infrastructure Association
Global ICT solutions provider Huawei has joined the board of the 5G Infrastructure Association.
Worldwide information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider Huawei is to become part of the board at the 5G Infrastructure Association in Europe.
The announcement came after a general assembly in Bologna in Italy and could represent a major step forward for the rollout of superfast connectivity across Europe and the rest of the world.
Dr David Soldani of Huawei European Research Centre will represent the organisation on the board, where he will aim to promote the interests of the 5G Public and Private Partnership - a joint initiative between the European Commission and the ICT industry across Europe.
"Huawei will place significant effort in driving 5G foundational technology research, tests and large scale trials in collaboration with partners to assess the technical feasibility and business viability of new 5G technologies," the group commented.
The 5G Infrastructure Association, which is based in Belgium, carries out research on the technology and is drawing up global standards regarding the use of these communication systems and networks.
Huawei intends to play an "important advisory role" and play a part in influencing the European Union's priorities regarding research into 5G.
