Idris Elba's In the Long Run to premiere on Sky One

Tuesday, February 27th 2018 by Oprah Flash

Can’t get enough of Idris Elba? Neither can we (me), so we are very happy to announce that a comedy written by and starring the dreamboat, ahem we mean award-winning actor, is coming to Sky One at the end of March.

Shell Suits at the ready, as Elba gives us some serious throwback vibes in his new series, In the Long Run. The comedy is the brainchild of Golden Globe winner Idris Elba and takes us back in time to a 1980’s East London where he grew up.

The show puts a comedic twist on Idris Elba’s childhood memories and follows Walter (Idris Elba) and Agnes Easmon (Madeline Appiah), 13 years after they moved to London from Sierra Leone. They work hard to pay the bills, raise their son Kobna (Sammy Kamara) and support family back home.

Life is good, Walter works in the local factory, Agnes sells make-up door-to-door and Kobna hangs out with his best mate Scot, playing footie and dodging the local thugs on the estate.

Their quiet life gets a rude awakening when out of the blue, Walter’s brother Valentine (Jimmy Akingbola) pops up into their lives bringing chaos and mayhem with him.

You may also recognise Billy Bailey, who stars as Bagpipes, Walter’s right-hand man and neighbour.

The Sky Original Production start on Thursday 29 March at 10pm on Sky One or you can stream it on NOW TV with an Entertainment Pass.

The series is a co-production between Green Door and Sprout Pictures. It’s directed by Declan Lowney and Cecile Emeke and written by Claire Downes, Ian Jarvis, Stuart Lane and Grace Ofori-Attah.

You’ll get all the Sky TV perks like a Sky Q box and more than 250 TV channels to watch including Sky One, Sky Atlantic and Sky Living. This spans an 18-month contract, after this term the price goes up to £25 a month.
