Plusnet SIM deal lets you 'load up your mobile' with 3GB for £8 a month

SIM-only deals are the gifts that keep on giving. No, we haven’t lost the plot. Obviously chocolate and Baileys is the ultimate gift but a close second is the SIM-only deal.

They give you a lot of data, are easy on the wallet and they give you the flexibility that comes with not being tied into a contract.

Plusnet currently has a deal that offers 3GB data for £8 a month. It comes with 1,000 minutes and unlimited texts. This deal is available for a limited time only, once the clock strikes 12 next Thursday (1 March) night it will be gone.

This is a 30-day rolling contract so if you decide it’s not for you, you can cancel it at the end of the month penalty-free. Plusnet Mobile piggybacks onto EE’s network so you can expect a strong 4G signal that covers 95% of the UK

Before you sign up to any deal you should do your homework and shop around. Luckily we’ve done the hard work for you and scoured the market for 30-day SIM-only deals.

First up we’ve chosen Three. As well as pay-monthly SIM-only deals Three does offer 30-day plans as well that come with the same perks.

Free data for Netflix

The prices aren’t quite as cheap as Plusnet’s offering. To get 4GB of data on a 1-month Advanced Plan you’ll pay £18 a month. You may as well just pay an extra £2 to get 12GB of data for £20 a month. As these are both Advanced Plans you get Go Binge, roaming in 71 countries across the globe and the ability to use your data as a personal hotspot.

Go Binge allows you to stream from Netflix, TV Player, Apple Music, Soundcloud and Deezer without ever dipping into your data allowance.

Both of the deals we mentioned from Three come with all-you-can-eat-minutes and texts.

Next up is giffgaff. It has called its SIM-only deals 'goody-bags'. Plans start at £5 a month for 100MB and go up to £20 a month for Always On data. You have to watch out with this plan as your connection speeds will slow down drastically after you’ve used 9GB. To get 3GB of data from giffgaff with 500 minutes and unlimited texts it's £10 a month.

Last but not least in our list is Asda Mobile. You can snatch up a 3GB pay as you go bundle for £12 a month. You’ll also get 800 minutes and unlimited texts. A 5GB bundle is £15 a month and 8GB of data with unlimited minutes and texts is £20.

Like all of the plans we mentioned, you can cancel the plan at the end of the month if you decide it’s not for you. And there are loads of great deals available from Vodafone and Virgin Media if you’re willing to be locked in to a 12-month contract.
