Netflix announces GLOW season 2 release date

Thursday, April 19th 2018 by Steve McCaskill

All ten episodes of the second season of female wrestling comedy drama GLOW will be released on Netflix on 29 June.

The Netflix Original, which follows the wrestlers in the all-female Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW) promotion in the 1980s, debuted in 2017 to critical acclaim, leading the streaming service to recommission the show.

It stars an ensemble cast, including Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Sydelle Noel, Britney Young and Marc Macron as the promoter, and features guest appearances from professional wrestlers including John Morrison, Tyrus (also known as Brodus Clay during his time in WWE), Alex Riley and Awesome Kong.

Aside from wrestling, there’s the usual drama about the wrestlers' lives, and the 80s setting allows for some outrageous fashion and a nostalgia-fuelled soundtrack.

And if that’s not enough to whet your appetite, Netflix has released a teaser trailer so you can get a feel of what’s in store.

To watch the second series of GLOW (and catch up with the first if you haven’t seen it yet), you can subscribe to Netflix for as little as £5.99, although this restricts you to standard-definition programmes and a single device. For £7.99 you can get high definition streams and can watch on up to two devices at the same time, and with the £9.99 ‘premium’ package you get access to the 4K Ultra HD content and can watch on four devices simultaneously.

New customers can also get a month for free on any of the three packages so there’s no excuse not to check it out.

With your subscription you get access to hundreds of TV shows and films from the UK, US and around the world, including Netflix Originals like House of Cards, Orange Is the New Black and Altered Carbon.

The company has announced a raft of new shows in recent times, including Nightflyers – based on a George RR Martin novella of the same name – and a new season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.

Netflix is available on virtually any device you can think of. It works in a web browser, Windows 10, iPhone, iPad and Android application, on Xbox and PlayStation devices and on smart TVs and streaming sticks.

You can watch Netflix on your Virgin Media TV Tivo or V6 box, while Sky has also agreed a deal to carry the platform on Sky Q in the future, although there is no indication as to when this might be.
