New Guillermo del Toro horror series – 10 After Midnight – coming soon to Netflix
Guillermo del Toro, the mastermind who brought us the Academy Award-winning film The Shape of Water and animated series Trollhunters, is creating a new horror anthology series exclusively for Netflix.
Called 10 After Midnight, the series will be made up of a collection of personally curated stories, handpicked and crafted by the award-winning filmmaker.
Netflix has said the series will be "equally sophisticated and horrific."
Toro first teamed up with Netflix to create the animated series Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia which went on to win six Emmys, including an Outstanding Performer award for Kelsey Grammer, who voices Blinky’s character.
'Equally sophisticated and horrific'
Hoping to have a similar level of success, 10 After Midnight will be a live-action series and is Netflix’s first original horror anthology series.
As well as writing, Toro has confirmed he will be directing some of the episodes. Joining him behind the scenes are executive producers J Miles Dale (Shape of Water) and Gary Ungar (Exile Entertainment).
Details about what the horror anthology will be about and who is set to star in it are thin on the ground (non-existent), but we’ve got high hopes for this series as Guillermo del Toro is responsible for some cinematic greats such as Pan’s Labyrinth, Blade II and Pacific Rim.
Netflix offers a free 30-day trial so you can be strategic and watch the new horror series for free by bingeing it within a month then cancelling the trial. If you don’t fill your boots before the end of the trial, you can keep the service and watch at your own pace. It costs £5.99 a month for the basic subscription. For the standard package with HD streaming and the ability to watch it on two screen at one time it’s £7.99 a month.
The premium package is £9.99 a month for Ultra HD and the ability to have four of family or friends stream on a different screen at the same time. Top titles like Black Mirror, Suits and Stranger Things, are all available to watch on the service with new show releases announced each month.
